HOUSTON, January 11, 2021 — The World Petroleum Council is now seeking outstanding projects and innovations in the oil and gas sector to be considered for the 2021 WPC Excellence Award (WPCEA), which will be announced at the 23rd World Petroleum Congress in Houston, Texas, December 5-9, 2021.
The Awards are open to national oil companies (NOCs), institutions or any public or private organizations (not individuals) engaged in the oil and gas industry that operate under and promote high standards of excellence. Submissions will be accepted until June 18, 2021 for two categories, Technological Development and Social Responsibility. The finalists will be named in each category prior to the Congress, those from an NOC or large business, and the others to represent the work of small- and medium-sized organizations.
As part of the WPCEA program, and in recognition of the important contribution from youth to the energy industry, the 23rd World Petroleum Council will honor the best young authors of the Congress with the WPC Excellence Awards for Youth. These will be selected from the best abstracts submitted by young professionals under 35.
The winners will be announced on December 5, 2021, the first day of the 23rd World Petroleum Congress, during the WPC Excellence Awards Ceremony. For more details click here. All the projects selected by the independent panel of judges will be showcased during the Congress.

About the 23rd World Petroleum Congress
The 23rd World Petroleum Congress takes place in Houston, Texas, December 5-9, 2021. The triennial World Petroleum Congress is the oil and gas industry’s largest and most prestigious international event. Known as “the Olympics of the oil and gas sector,” the Congress attracts the highest-level industry and government leaders from around the world, including heads of state, ministers of energy and C-suite executives.
