Oh, the difference a year can make. A little over a year ago, the offshore sector was hit hard by the pandemic and the steep decline in global energy demand. Fast forward to today where the recovery has surpassed even our most ambitious expectations, in nearly every corner of the globe. Not only have oil and gas prices and demand rebounded far beyond expectations, new initiatives and developments at every step of the offshore supply chain are ensuring offshore production continues to flourish.
Even before this year, offshore development has been experiencing a renaissance. New discoveries and exploration in Colombia, Guyana and Suriname are showing the world the power of innovative thinking across the industry, while advancements in Europe and Africa have become the standard in sustainable development.
Firms around the world are also pushing the boundaries of offshore development, repurposing existing assets and exploring what production looks like as we move toward the energy transition. In the last year, we’ve seen new technologies for carbon capture and sequestration, emerging frontiers in offshore wind, digitization of the industry and new projects and prospects crop up across the globe.
The Offshore oil and gas sector has adapted and responded to the main challenges facing the industry, all while meeting global energy demand and continuing to innovate towards a low-carbon future.
All of these innovations and speakers will be showcased at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), where the world’s best and brightest minds will meet to discuss advancements in the offshore sector. Key decisionmakers from around the globe will convene in Houston this summer to display groundbreaking innovations across the energy spectrum, while industry leaders discuss, deliberate and build consensus around the future of offshore energy.
This year, we will be featuring over 350 technical presentations highlighting new research and technology within the sector. And OTC will also provide attendees with the opportunity to network and collaborate with our industry’s top minds, both virtually and in person.
And 2021 will be a year of firsts for OTC. For the first time, we will be hosting a hybrid event with both in person and online programming.
And this year will also mark our first-ever Executive Dialogue Series, which will engage executives in thoughtful discussions about the innovations, corporate shifts, and policies needed to drive the future of offshore energy.
In the spirit of collaboration, we will also be joining forces with NAPE for a special fireside chat, bringing together two top executives to discuss the energy transition and the industry’s role in achieving net-zero emissions by midcentury.
All of this makes OTC 2021 the perfect setting to experience upstream’s incredible rebound. We hope to see you there!
OTC 2021 will take place 16-19 August in Houston, Texas. For more information, please visit https://2021.otcnet.org/.
