The Organizing Committee of the 23rd World Petroleum Congress recognized that partnering with Houston’s network of diverse-owned businesses was a powerful multiplier for innovation, economic growth and community development.

We aimed to create lasting value through our business activities and commit to engaging with suppliers that reflected the diversity of the Houston market and shared our core values in order to fulfill our important mission.

The global audience that convened in Houston for the 23rd World Petroleum Congress may have required the talent of our local market. Our goal was to provide a curated list of experienced, minority—owned businesses within the Greater Houston region to have had available for our visitors. We welcomed registrations into the Supplier Diversity Program that met the following criteria:

  • The participating company must have been 51% minority, women, LGBTQ, veteran-owned or disabled-owned.
  • Business should have served the Greater Houston region.
  • Supplier goods and services must have matched the approved supplier categories and matched scope and capability requirements outlined by individuals requesting services and/or products.

(Feb 11, 2021) 23rd WPC Supplier Diversity Program Intro Webinar hosted by Erica Baum, Director of Special Events and Community Engagement for the 23rd WPC, discussed details about the Supplier Diversity Program and featured guests, Sallie Sargent, COO of 23rd WPC and Roger Harris, Development Specialist Manager of HoustonFirst, as they gave insight into the December 5-9, 2021, World Petroleum Congress and the 2021 outlook for events in Houston.
