World Petroleum Council
The World Petroleum Council is a non-advocacy, non-political organization with charitable status in the U.K. and has accreditation as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) from the United Nations (UN). The WPC is dedicated to the promotion of sustainable management and use of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of all.
Headquartered in London, since 1933, the World Petroleum Council includes nearly 65 member countries from around the world representing over 96% of global oil and gas production and consumption. WPC membership is unique as it includes both OPEC and Non-OPEC countries with representation of National Oil Companies (NOCs) as well as International Oil Companies (IOCs). Each member country has a National Committee comprised of representatives of the oil and gas industry, academia, research institutions and government departments. The governing body is the Council consisting of representation from each of the country national committees.

A global symposium assembling more than 100 nations, the World Petroleum Congress convenes every three years for thought-provoking exchanges and an interactive exhibition.
The Congress participants examine all aspects of the industry, from technological advances in upstream and downstream to the role of natural gas and renewables and the management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental impact.

Leaving a Legacy
Among the principles of the World Petroleum Congress is to enrich the local host community and to leave an enduring legacy.
In addition, the legacy projects established in the Congress host countries, the WPC Legacy Fund was established to spread the benefits of the Congress beyond the organizing countries, through carefully selected projects around the world.
